Infants

Infants (6 weeks to 12 months)

All of our classrooms are responsive care based, however this one is more so as our schedule pertains to each individual child’s feedings, naps and diaper changing needs. In this room we coordinate with the families at home schedule to ensure each child’s day is consistent.

Our focus on developmental goals for this classroom are social and emotional development where the children build up positive, nurturing relationships as well as fine and gross motor development where the children work towards the ability to roll, crawl, sit up, grasp objects, and pull themselves up. As the children get ready to move on to Older Infants they begin to show more interest in mobility and different foods.

Older Infants (12 to 18 months)

In this classroom, we continue to manipulate our schedule around children’s needs however; they begin to transition to a set AM/PM snack, lunch, and outside times. Nap has a designated time although if a child is extra sleepy they have the opportunity to sleep as needed.

Our focus on developmental goals for this classroom are social and emotional development where children begin to engage with other children and language development where children communicate verbally or nonverbally and  learn some simple sign language to let the teacher know if they need “more” or if they are “all done”.  As the children get ready to move on to Middle Toddlers they become more confident in walking and balancing and begin to use utensils when eating.
